I am under 16

Clinics and under 16s

Can I still attend a clinic if I am under 16?

Yes, you can still be seen in complete confidence if you are under the age of 16.

Regardless of your age you do not need your parent’s permission to get contraception or advice and we are not allowed to pass on any of your personal information unless we are concerned that you; or someone close to you is in danger.

You should feel safe being totally honest and asking whatever questions you would like.
If you are under 16 health care workers have to follow strict guidelines when they are working with you.

This means that you can get sexual health advice and treatment or contraception when it is in your best interest to do so even if you do not have your parent’s permission.
