PrEP EmERGE – Connecting you with your care plan

PrEP stands for pre-exposure HIV prevention. It helps prevent HIV by taking a pill daily or ‘on-demand’.

The PrEP EmERGE App

PrEP EmERGE is a digital health innovation which gives you access to a secure mobile app.

The app has been co-designed and developed by EmERGE mHealth Ltd., a not-for-profit organisation; The Terrence Higgins Trust and our colleagues at the Brighton Sexual Health service.

The app connects to your sexual health record.

• Results – access to all your current and historic results.
• Medication – access to your current medication information.
• Appointments – details of all your upcoming and previous appointments.
• Tracking – a calendar to track your PrEP and set-up reminders.
• Security– a secure login with 256bit encryption (a standard trusted by banking apps).

The app can provide benefits such as:

• Reduced clinician visits – you may only need to visit the clinic every six months, saving you time.
• At interim visits, you’ll receive an online home sampling kit for HIV and STIs. The EmERGE team will check your results and send them to your app.
• You can track your PrEP, set reminders for doses, and know when you’ll run out.
• You also have access to the clinic through two-way messaging, reducing time spent on the phone.
• Get information about PrEP, the service, STIs, and anything else you need!

Am I eligible for the PrEP EmERGE pathway?

Please discuss this with your clinician. The PrEP EmERGE pathway is generally offered to people who are happy on PrEP, so they don’t need to attend the clinic as often.
